Western Specialty Contractors’ Indianapolis branch restored the Parkwood Crossing parking garage in Indianapolis, IN.
Located at 510 E 96th Street, the parking structure required a complete restoration in two phases, starting in May 2022. Western’s scope of work included:
- Large quantities of partial- and full-depth concrete repairs
- Structural column and beam concrete repairs
- Concrete stairs, flange and vertical wall repairs
- Control joint sealant replacement
- Cove joint sealant replacement
- Route and seal of cracks
- Expansion joint replacement
- New drain installation/replacement of drains
- Painting of ceilings and walls
- Application of a new, heavy-duty traffic membrane throughout the garage
During construction, Western discovered that the concrete deck was in worse condition than anticipated once demolition began.
“Many of the partial-depth repairs turned into full-depth repairs. We had to work with the owner and the engineer on the project, Kimley Horn, through the process of worst-case scenarios to arrive at a solution for some of the more difficult repairs,” said Branch Manager Mark Antoskiewicz. “The customer was very satisfied with how the project was run, both in the field and in the office. So satisfied, that we now negotiate all other work on this campus with the customer.”
Western completed both phases of the garage restoration on schedule in October 2024.
