Western Specialty Contractors’ Orlando branch has completed an extensive façade restoration and waterproofing project at Urso Hall on the University of Tampa campus in Tampa, FL.
Serving as the prime contractor, Western performed a variety of repairs designed to address deterioration, improve weather protection and help extend the service life of the building’s exterior.
The project included removing and replacing approximately 4,365 linear feet of window perimeter sealants and restoring approximately 5,439 linear feet of window wet seals. Crews also replaced approximately 1,227 linear feet of metal-to-metal sealants and approximately 1,998 linear feet of vertical and horizontal control joint sealants.
Additional work included stucco repairs at deteriorated locations and high-pressure cleaning of the building’s exterior stucco surfaces.
Following the repairs and cleaning, Western applied protective exterior wall coatings and penetrating masonry sealers to enhance the façade’s resistance to weather and moisture.
With several different sealant conditions and exterior materials included in the scope, Western’s crews carefully coordinated each phase of the restoration to maintain quality and keep the project on schedule.
“The success of this project was a direct reflection of the hard work and attention to detail shown by our field team,” said Sergio Sera of Western Specialty Contractors’ Orlando branch. “Foreman Jatcia Mungia and the crew did an excellent job maintaining our safety standards, delivering quality workmanship and keeping the project on schedule.”
The project began in May 2026 and was completed in August 2026. Western finished the work on time and within budget to the satisfaction of the University of Tampa.
