Western Specialty Contractors’ Kansas City Roofing branch has completed a roofing retrofit project at an industrial facility in Kansas City, MO.
Serving as the prime contractor, Western installed a TPO retrofit roofing system over the building’s existing standing seam metal roof, eliminating the need for a costly roof replacement while providing long-term weather protection and improved energy performance.
To prepare the roof for the new membrane, Western installed expanded polystyrene (EPS) flute fill between the ribs of the existing metal roof, followed by 1.5-inch polyisocyanurate insulation to increase the roof’s thermal performance and create a smooth substrate. The project was completed with the installation of an Elevate 60-mil TPO membrane, backed by a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty, along with new sheet-metal flashings to complete the roofing system.

The project began in December 2025 and was completed in January 2026. Western completed the work on time and within budget, to the customer’s satisfaction.
