Western Specialty Contractors is proud to share that our recent transition to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) has been featured in the St. Louis Business Journal.
After more than 110 years of family ownership, Western has officially become an employee-owned company. This milestone marks an exciting new chapter in our history, allowing employees to hold a meaningful ownership stake while preserving the company’s independence, culture and long-term vision.
The ESOP structure strengthens our commitment to strategic growth, operational investment and leadership development, while directly aligning our employee-owners with Western’s continued success. As Chairman and CEO Ben Bishop Jr. shared, transitioning to an ESOP recognizes the contributions of our employees in a meaningful way and positions the company for long-term stability and growth.
As part of this transition, Western’s leadership team has evolved to support the future of the company. Paul Gillstrom has stepped into the role of Chief ESOP & Strategy Officer to lead the strategic and financial governance of the ESOP, and Scott Fortkamp has joined Western as Chief Financial Officer to guide financial operations moving forward.
This recognition highlights not only our historic transition but also the strength of the people who have built Western into the nation’s largest specialty contractor in masonry and concrete restoration, waterproofing and specialty roofing.
