About Us
Western Waterproofing Company was founded in St. Louis, MO in 1915 and since then has grown across the United States. In 2008 Western Purchased Peoria Roofing and Sheet Metal and began roofing operations in central Illinois. The Peoria Branch is signatory with Roofers Local 69 and Sheet Metal workers Local 1 and we are well equipped with a sheet metal fabrication shop.
In 2015, Western celebrated our centennial and rebranded as Western Specialty Contractors to provide a more encompassing portrayal of our services.
Over the years Western has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and professional service in the Peoria Area. We have continued to grow our network with the general contractors, property managers, building owners, and architects in the area to be involved in some of the most challenging projects.
We have had the privilege to work on projects including OSF Ministry Head quarters, Precision Planting Morton, The Peoria Civic Center, Riverplex Recreation and Wellness Center, Greater Peoria Mass Transit, as well as the Waterproofing on the State Capital North Wing Renovation Project.

McLean County Museum Roof | Bloomington, IL
Extensive water damage from an aging roof threatened to destroy treasured artifacts housed at the McLean County Museum of History in Downtown Bloomington, IL. The water intrusion resulted from a 30-year-old, damaged roof that had exceeded its useful life span by more than five years, allowing rain to leak through the roof and insulation, clay tile, and mortar down into the building’s ceilings and interior rooms.
Twin Towers Place
Peoria, IL Branch completed a project to restore the exterior covered lobby entry at Twin Towers Place apartments in Downtown Peoria. Twin Towers Place was built in 1984 and has 29 stories with 58 units in its two towers. Located at 123 SW Jefferson Ave., the complex features underground parking and views of Downtown Peoria.
The entire team has been professional, responsive, and easy to work with from our original meeting to the completion of the project. The team communicated each step clearly and provided timelines. Carlisle SynTec Systems’ Perfection Award and Perfection Council were established in 2011 as a way to recognize those Authorized Applicators who demonstrate a commitment to perfection and quality on every Carlisle installation. Each year, the Perfection Award honors applicators whose exceptional installation quality results in a warranty claim performance that ranks in the top 5% of all U.S. and Canadian applicators. A small number of Perfection Award winners are selected to serve on Carlisle’s Perfection Council for a one-year period, acting as an advisory board to help determine how Carlisle can best support its applicator network.
