Western Specialty Contractors’ Minneapolis Branch recently completed a project to repair leaking windows on two buildings at the Ridgeview Health Clinic in Burnsville, MN.
Located at 303 E Nicollet Blvd. on the campus of M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital, Davis Healthcare Real Estate Group contacted Western regarding leaking windows on two of its three-story buildings. Upon further investigation, Western’s waterproofing experts found deteriorated and deficient sealants along the joints of several windows.
Caulking is the first line of defense against water getting into a building, and failed caulking is the number one cause of water issues in all types of buildings. Western’s experts recommend inspecting a building’s caulk joints at least once a year to look for any signs of deterioration, including cracking, flaking or missing caulk. When caulk is deteriorating, water can easily seep into a building’s interior, causing unhappy tenants and costly interior damage over time.
To resolve the issue, Western’s waterproofing experts removed all deteriorated sealants around the leaking windows and replaced them with new sealants. Since the two clinics are extremely busy during the week, Western worked closely with on-site staff to close as few parking spots as possible for equipment to repair the windows’ exteriors.
Western completed the project in four days and within budget to the customer’s satisfaction.
