In 2006, Western Specialty Contractors’ Tulsa Branch was selected to install a deck coating system at the Comanche County Courthouse.
The 38,000 square feet of concrete pavement surrounding the court house was in terrible shape. There was a large amount of concrete repair that had been performed by others, prior to the start of Western’s work.
The engineer specified Neo-Guard “Pedi-Guard” as their product of choice for the coating system. As with all coatings, preparation of the substrate is the most important step in producing a durable and long lasting coating system. Western first shot-blasting the entire 38,000 square foot area of the concrete deck. Next the crew routed out and sealed approximately 1,100 linear feet of cracks. Due to the roughness of some sections of the concrete it was necessary to apply an epoxy leveling coat to these areas. Next came the application of the coating and the decorative red band around the perimeter and walking lanes.
Due to the courthouse being occupied and always busy, coordination was a big step of this project. This was one of many quality coating projects that was finished on time and safely by Western’s team of professionals in Oklahoma.
