The building located on 412-416 East Adams Street in Springfield was constructed in the
late 1800’s. Age and exposure to the elements severely deteriorated the sandstone and limestone facade. In addition the existing masonry was very dirty, it had become black.
In the spring of 2008, Western Waterproofing was hired by Evans Construction to restore the exterior of the building and bring back its original appearance. Western used Jahn’s Repair Mortar to restore and rebuild the sandstone and limestone pieces. The building was also tuckpointed and chemically cleaned. A consolidant was applied to help restore the structural integrity of the masonry.
To complete the work, the repaired areas were stained black to match the existing masonry.
